Frequently asked questions

How to convert SRT to VTT online?

Upload your .srt file, choose WebVTT in Convert & export and click Download. The WEBVTT header is added and comma timestamps become dots automatically.

How to fix delayed subtitles in video editing?

Enter the offset in Time shift and press Delay to move all cues later, or Hurry to move them earlier. Check the preview, then export.

Are my uploaded subtitle files private?

Yes. Everything runs locally in your browser. Files are never sent to a server.

Can I translate an SRT file?

Add word=translation lines to the dictionary and apply them to every cue, or use find and replace. Timings stay the same. For full sentences, translate the exported transcript with your preferred tool and paste the lines back into the cues.

Is EZSubtitles free and does it need an account?

It is free, needs no account or installation, and works fully in the browser with no backend.

How do I fix subtitle sync?

Use Time shift: enter the offset, press Delay to move subtitles later or Hurry to move them earlier, check the live preview, then export.

What is a good subtitle reading speed?

Around 17 characters per second is comfortable and 21 is a common limit. Cues above your limit are marked in red.
